Hastings Water Works provides lifeguards and year-round services for commercial and residential pools as well as water features in Northeast Ohio.  The summer season is when we’re in full swing, staffing approximately 250 lifeguards at commercial pools, as well as providing residential and commercial pool service. We’ve been doing this for 32 years, and each year just seems to keep getting better – in large part, because of our amazing team.

Matthew Harley has been with us for four years but he’s leaving to pursue his degree in aeronautics. He is a prime example of what we endeavor to provide for all of our team members: an opportunity for growth.

Matthew’s message:

This summer I have had the excellent opportunity to be a District Manager for Hastings Water Works and today marked my last day at this job. Four summers ago, in 2020, I started at this company as a lifeguard, and I had no idea how far working for this company would take me.

As I look back on my experience working for this company, I’ve realized these years have been a masterclass in leadership. Over my time at this job, my experiences, managers, and colleagues have taught me the true essence of guiding and empowering a team. Learning the ropes of leadership, fostering teamwork, and embracing challenges has been an honor and a privilege of this job.

As I look forward to my second year at St. Louis University, I plan on carrying these experiences with me. I know the leadership skills I have acquired here at Hastings Water Works will be vital to success in my future endeavors.

Client Feedback

We also hear from clients about the experiences they’ve had with our team. We live for this feedback and in knowing that our customers are satisfied with the service they receive. Here are a couple of letters we recently received about our amazing team:

Dave,

I just wanted to briefly touch base and say “THANK YOU” for a very successful year. We had a few minor bumps here and there which were very insignificant. I probably drove Crystal crazy a few times😊 but she was nothing short of awesome in her response and attention to our needs. Thank you again for all your help.

Hello Dave,

Hope your summer is going well – I just wanted to write you a quick note to commend two of your employees who work at our pool here in The Landings.

Our lifeguard supervisor, Ben, has been doing a tremendous job supervising our pool from day one. He keeps a close eye on things and quickly responds to any request when called upon. He was a great lifeguard last year and an even better supervisor this year. We’re glad our pool is under his watch.

And one of our lifeguards, Sierra, is truly exceptional. Today, when there was a period when no swimmers were present at the pool, she took it upon herself to hop in the pool and polish our entire perimeter of pool tiles. Most other lifeguards normally take a break and relax during occasional downtimes but not her – she made herself productive instead – and our pool looks great! I’ve also seen her skimming the surface of the pool with a net during break times to keep it in tip-top shape, and she always rolls up hoses neatly rather than leaving them in a tangled pile. I know these are little things, but little things do matter. Our pool always looks its best when she is on duty!

Both Ben and Sierra do an awesome job here at The Landings, and our community notices. They’re both great ambassadors for Hastings Water Works!

We are truly grateful for our dedicated team and for the time our customers take to provide feedback about their experiences.
